What is the fire hazard classification for 50% hydrogen peroxide, and what is the basis for this classification?
Category B. List of hazardous chemicals, Category 2 oxidizers. According to building codes, category 2 oxidizers are classified as belonging to fire hazard category 1.
According to building codes, category 2 oxidizers are classified as having fire hazard category 1; do they belong to category A or category B? Why does it seem to belong to Category A in the example?
Category B: According to the 2015 Catalogue of Hazardous Chemicals, it falls under category (2), where the concentration is 20% ≤ concentration < 60%; it is an oxidizing liquid of Category 2. Furthermore, per GB30000.14, Appendix B classifies such substances as oxidizing, and in accordance with building codes, it is designated as Category B. (1) Content ≥60%. Oxidizing liquid, Category 1: Skin corrosion/irritation; Category 1A: Severe eye damage/eye irritation; Category 1: Specific target organ toxicity – single exposure; Category 3 (Respiratory irritation). (2) 20% ≤ Content < 60%. Oxidizing liquid, Category 2: Skin corrosion/irritation; Category 1A: Severe eye damage/eye irritation; Category 1: Specific target organ toxicity – single exposure; Category 3 (Respiratory irritation). According to Note 2 of Article 3.1.3 of the building codes, secondary oxidizers are classified as Category B fire hazards
