Dear experts: I have here several process flow diagrams sent by my friend from India. As shown in the screenshot: In the pipe numbers such as “L2709/40/AWL/SS”, “L4231/50/AWL/SS”, and “L4302/500/AWV/SS/H” shown in the image, the numbers following those pipe numbers – “40”, “50”, “80”, “500”, etc. – I guess represent the diameter of the pipes? Some expert, could you please clarify this? ? What does H mean? Is it Heat? Or Hot? In the list of valves sent by India’s Third Brother, there are specifications for valves such as 15NB, 25NB, 40NB, 50NB, 65NB, 80NB, 100NB, 150NB, 250NB, and so on. What does NB mean? What do the numbers in front of NB mean? Note: The flanges and valves required by India’s Third Brother are all in accordance with ASME standards. Some expert, could you please clarify this? ?
This position in the pipeline generally indicates a insulation and heating or sound-insulation solution; H denotes that this pipeline is equipped with heating.
L2709/40/AWL/SS, L, liquid, 40 nominal pipe diameter, AWL, which I assume refers to the medium, SS, material, stainless steel, NB, nominal diameter, H, insulation.
Go ask your third brother for the P&ID Legend and pipe class; don’t guess on your own. NB=Nominal Bore, nominal diameter.

For these, there are notes on the right side of the standard drawing. There are no trivial matters in foreign trade; it is essential to be cautious, and asking about the drawings when in doubt is the correct approach.

You can understand this by looking at the documents from the design institute; usually, the first page of the drawings contains explanations – there information on the names of the pipes, their codes, their dimensions, and the name of the medium used. It depends on the letter codes used by the design institute for representing various components
