Winter has arrived, and many of the units have heating systems in place. I see that our units also have numerous heating lines. May I ask to what temperature can steam-based heating lines raise the temperature? For example, a steam tracing line has been installed in the acidic gas pipeline, with the steam operating at 1.0 MPA. What would be the approximate temperature of the acidic gas pipeline, or by how much can its temperature increase? Thank you, please discuss among yourselves
It depends on the actual situation, such as whether there is flow in the pipeline and the setup of heat tracing traps
It depends on how heating and insulation are implemented, and it is also related to conditions such as the operating temperature and flow rate of the material being transported in the pipeline; therefore, it cannot be generalized.
1. First, ignoring the heat dissipation and heat transfer efficiency associated with heating, a thermal balance can be established by considering the heat from the heating steam and the heat of the medium being heated; this allows for an estimation of the temperature at equilibrium, which represents the ideal temperature. 2. After taking into account heat dissipation and heat transfer efficiency, the actual temperature will be lower than the ideal temperature. 3. The difficulty in accurately calculating steam heating lies in the fact that as the steam supplies heat, its own heat content decreases, and its state changes accordingly. The condensation of steam releases latent heat, and the amount of condensed water, as well as the state parameters of the steam, environmental conditions, heat dissipation levels, and parameters of the process medium, can only be estimated roughly. Therefore, the calculated results are merely estimates; a more practical approach is to adjust the amount of steam used on-site.
