1. Only one jacketed reactor is used, with steam being introduced into the jacket for distillation. What is the difference between this method and a distillation tower? 2. Must there be a reboiler at the bottom of a distillation tower? In some designs, there is a reactor at the bottom of the tower, equipped with a jacket through which steam is supplied; does such a reactor function as a reboiler at the bottom of the tower? 3. Can the reboiler at the bottom of the tower be integrated with the tower itself? What are the differences between a jacketed reactor at the bottom of the tower that is integrated with the tower and one that is separate from it? What are the differences between horizontal and vertical bottom-reactor vessels? 4. What is the difference between a reactor at the bottom of a tower with stirring and one without stirring? 5. What are the criteria used for designing and calculating the tower diameter and height? 6 Under what circumstances is batch distillation used, and under what circumstances is continuous distillation used?

The difference between distillation and rectification is that rectification involves circulation while distillation does not; distillation uses steam for direct heating, whereas rectification uses a reboiler for heating
