Dear teachers, I would like to ask about the degree of corrosivity of acrylic acid, acrylic acid wastewater, acrylic acid vapor, and crude acrylic acid (50%), as well as the reasons for it. I heard from the workers in the workshop before that acrylic vapor has the strongest corrosive effect, followed by the condensate from acrylic wastewater. Therefore, pipes for acrylic vapor and wastewater require 316L material, while pipes for acrylic and acetic acid can be made of 304 material to meet the requirements; I’ve never understood why this is the case. What exactly is the acrylic vapor you are referring to? Is it water vapor containing acrylic acid, or acrylic acid vapor generated by the boiling of acrylic acid liquid? The corrosivity of a medium depends, firstly, on the concentration of the components that cause corrosion, and secondly, on the conditions under which corrosion occurs (including temperature, moisture, mode of contact, etc.). If you list factors such as the composition of these media, the concentration of corrosive components, the conditions of the medium, the material of the container, and the contact time, then with comparative data available, it will be easier to conduct an analysis.
