Gentlemen, regarding the issue of insulating flanges: for example, the diameter of the bolt holes in a DN80 flange is 18 mm, and the standard bolts used for such flanges are M16. The sum of the bolt diameter, the insulating sleeve, and the additional margin exceeds the diameter of the bolt hole. How can this be explained? I hope some expert can help answer this.
Why is insulation needed? I don’t understand it: for those with a lower pressure rating, it is possible to increase the diameter of the openings; however, this cannot be done for those with a higher pressure rating, as it will reduce the strength of the flange.
