Previously, for petrochemical equipment containers that did not require pressure resistance, HG21519 vertical lidded manholes (6 kilograms; available in DN450 and DN500 sizes) were used; these manholes had many bolts, making maintenance and disassembly difficult. After researching, HG21597 (quick-opening stainless steel-lined manhole with a rotating arch lid) and HG21527 (quick-opening manhole with a rotating arch lid) were found. Given that the container material is stainless steel, HG21597 is considered the appropriate choice. According to the standards, all three types of manholes can be used in the petrochemical industry; see the attached drawings. I would like to ask if they can be used as alternatives
The immediate pressure level is within the material’s tolerance limits; however, it is essential to install safety protection devices. The consequences of any operational errors could be unimaginable.
How can I ensure safe protection? I’m not sure, so please advise
The manholes for our equipment containers are installed on the side. Can such quick-opening manholes only be installed on the top of the container? I’m not sure whether the strength of the rotating pins used in side-mounted manholes is sufficient
Unless factors such as reducing odor dispersion and quick sampling are considered, the use of quick-opening manholes is not recommended!
It cannot be substituted. HG/T21519 and HG/T21527 specify the installation locations for manholes on chemical equipment; one should not choose the manhole specified in HG/T21527 just because more bolts need to be removed according to HG/T21519.
Well, the specifications don’t contain any textual instructions stating that manholes must be installed vertically or horizontally; what you know is the installation position shown in the diagrams in the specifications, right?
