On April 10, the ethylene tank farm, which is part of the auxiliary facilities for the Changqing Ethane to Ethylene project and was overall contracted by Beijing Huanyu Company and constructed by Huanyu Jilin Chemical Construction, was handed over at a high standard. This marked the transition of the ethylene tank farm from the construction phase to the commissioning phase, laying the foundation for the operation of the ethylene plant on May 20. The ethylene storage tanks in CCCC’s ethylene tank farm are full-pressure, low-temperature spherical storage tanks; due to their special materials and complex construction processes, their construction period is relatively long. However, as the storage and transportation system for ethylene plants, the ethylene tank farm plays a crucial role in balancing the supply of ethylene upstream and downstream of the plant, thereby ensuring steady production. The ethylene tank farm construction began on March 16, 2020, and the intermediate handover was completed on April 10, 2021, with a construction period of 13 months. During the project execution period, it operated safely and stably, with a total of 228,150 safe working hours. To date, a total of 30,886 welding equivalents have been completed for the installation of process pipelines; 1,304 welding equivalents for the installation of water supply and drainage pipelines; 2,171 meters of fire protection pipelines have been installed; 584 tons of steel structures have been installed; 7 pieces of moving equipment and 7 pieces of stationary equipment have been installed; 155,051 meters of electrical and instrumentation cables have been laid; 419 units of electrical and instrumentation equipment have been installed; 640 cubic meters of insulation work has been carried out on spherical tanks; 222 tons of rebar work has been completed for civil engineering purposes; and 3,315 cubic meters of concrete has been poured. A total of 12 unit projects, 36 sub-projects, and 144 sub-items were all approved in the initial inspection, with a pass rate of 100%. In terms of design, advanced and reliable process technologies are employed, along with centralized layout, control, and production management, to ensure the safe, stable, long-lasting, efficient, and optimal operation of upstream and downstream units. In terms of construction, despite challenges such as delayed delivery of the construction site, the outbreak of the pandemic, and unfavorable natural conditions at the site, careful planning was carried out in light of local conditions. The installation work on the eight 3,000-cubic-meter ethylene spheres in the ethylene tank farm, along with the accompanying storage and transportation systems, fire sprinkler systems, and safety venting systems, began on April 3, 2020. The eight sphere shells were manufactured in a factory setting and then assembled on-site, with dynamic management of safety, quality, and progress being implemented throughout the process. To accelerate the construction progress, all team members worked overtime, remaining at their posts to push forward the work even during the 2021 Spring Festival. In terms of management, strict attention was paid to the safety management of subcontractors; the three-level safety inspection system and risk identification at construction sites were upheld. On-site JSA management was strengthened, a \"district leader\" system was established for ensuring safe production during high-risk operations, and safety measures such as special work permits for construction were strictly implemented, thereby ensuring no accidents occurred during the construction of the ethylene tank farm. Through a combination of \"meticulous\" management, \"high-quality\" construction, and \"first-class\" services, the project team has received unanimous praise from the owner, the supervisor, and the quality inspection agency. Following the handover of the ethylene tank farm, during the subsequent final cleaning tasks under the three inspections and four adjustments process, Huanqiu Company will, as always, support the owner by working closely in coordination with the commissioning efforts, driven by a strong sense of responsibility and commitment. CCCC represents just a milestone, as well as a new starting point; the focus of work will shift from construction and installation to joint commissioning.
