At 17:00 on April 18, after 10 hours of continuous effort, the first super-large equipment in the Jiujiang Petrochemical Aromatics Project – the stripping tower – was successfully lifted into place, marking the completion of this installation ahead of schedule by 2 hours. This event signifies that the aromatics project has officially entered the phase of lifting large-scale equipment. This lifting operation is one of the most challenging lifting tasks in the aromatic compounds project. The aromatic hydrocarbons department, supervisors, third-party monitors, and all construction units carried out their work in strict accordance with the safety procedures and construction plans, strengthened on-site safety oversight, implemented proper safety measures, fulfilled their respective responsibilities, and worked together as a team. The project team overcame challenges such as limited space and rainy weather, and in light of the actual conditions on site, it coordinated with the construction party on multiple occasions. Through systematic organization and thorough planning, it held special meetings regarding equipment lifting at the site, worked overtime to carry out tasks related to insulating the tower structure, constructing auxiliary platforms, installing pipelines attached to the tower, and setting up lighting fixtures. It also organized relevant personnel from quality control, supervision, third-party oversight, and the construction party to inspect and verify the site foundation and lifting equipment, ensured that safety instructions were properly conveyed on site, and made sure that all preparatory work was carried out thoroughly. Through the joint efforts of all those involved in the project, the stripping tower for the aromatic hydrocarbon adsorption and separation unit was successfully hoisted into place, laying a solid foundation for the subsequent installation work. It is reported that the residue liquid tower has a diameter of 10.6 meters and a length of 90.15 meters; the maximum diameter at its equipment skirt is 11.04 meters, and its lifting weight is 1,346 tons, making it the largest-diameter equipment in the aromatics project. For this lifting operation, a 2,600-ton hydraulic lifting system is used as the main crane, with a 1,250-ton crawler crane serving as an auxiliary crane. The tower was manufactured in four sections and delivered to the site on October 26, 2020. From manufacturing at the base, transporting the sections, welding them on-site, to preparing for lifting, a large amount of meticulous preparatory work was carried out over a period of nearly a year.
