Why are iron pipes rarely used in industry?

Under conditions of low temperature, low pressure, and low corrosivity, steel pipes are generally used, with iron pipes being rarely seen. Iron also has good stiffness and strength. Why is it rarely used?

Many of the process flows are developed by design institutes, and they certainly take various factors into consideration.
Iron pipes are less weldable than steel pipes, and they corrode more severely.
Iron pipes do not have the same wide range of applications as steel pipes, and their installation is more difficult.

You’re thinking too much about the design institute.
By your logic, iron is completely useless.
Ductile iron pipes have many applications, but since iron pipes are difficult to weld and hard to process, they are not widely used in industrial pipelines
