Recently, Syngenta Group announced that it will invest over 900 million yuan in its R&D facility in Jerrold Hill, UK, to establish a new \"Biotechnology and Research Center\" (BioSTaR). The Galloway Hill R&D facility is the largest agricultural technology research organization in the UK, as well as Syngenta’s biggest plant protection research center worldwide; it currently employs over 800 scientists. Scheduled to become operational in 2028, BioSTaR is aimed to be a leading global facility for agricultural bioscience research. It will bring together around 300 researchers, focusing on bioscience, molecular analysis, and digital innovation, through the integrated use of artificial intelligence and big data analysis technologies. The center will focus on tackling key challenges in agricultural science, covering areas such as the analysis of interaction mechanisms between biology and the environment, the development of new chemical and biological agents, research on the migration, transformation, and degradation patterns of agricultural compounds in plants and soil, as well as innovative biomanufacturing processes, in order to accelerate the development of next-generation sustainable agricultural solutions. This investment represents an important effort by Sinochem to develop new forms of agricultural productivity and to drive the modernization of agriculture worldwide. It demonstrates the company’s strategic commitment and innovation capabilities in ensuring global food security and promoting sustainable agricultural development.
