During the vinyl chloride synthesis process, after the heat is forcibly transferred back to the hot water tank using hot water in the converter, part of this hot water is used for distillation heating before returning to the hot water tank again; occasionally loud noises are heard. What could be the cause?

The initial assumption is that water hammer has occurred. Since hot water tanks are generally at atmospheric pressure, a decrease in pressure before the high-temperature hot water enters the tank results in a two-phase flow of vapor and liquid, which leads to water hammer during entry. It is recommended to install a control valve before the tank entry point, keeping the pressure just above the saturated steam pressure so that vaporization takes place inside the tank; this should effectively resolve the problem of water hammer.
