Chang Junbiao from Henan Province: An expert in chemical biology and the development of new drugs, mainly engaged in research on innovative medications. Born in Huaxian County, Henan Province, in October 1963. He obtained his bachelor’s degree from Henan University in 1986, his master’s degree from Zhengzhou University in 1989, and his doctorate from the Institute of Pharmacology at Peking Union Medical College in 1996. In 2023, he was elected an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Ding Kuiling: Organic chemist, mainly engaged in research in the field of chiral catalytic synthesis. Born on March 15, 1966, in Yongcheng City, Henan Province. Graduated from the Department of Chemistry at Zhengzhou University in 1985, and obtained a Ph.D. from the Department of Chemistry at Nanjing University in 1990. Elected an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2013. Ma Dawei: Organic chemist, mainly engaged in organic synthesis and chemical biology research. Born in September 1963 in Nanyang City, Henan Province. Graduated from the Department of Chemistry at Shandong University in 1984, and obtained a Ph.D. from the Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1989. Elected an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2019. Xi Zhenfeng: Organic chemist, mainly engaged in research on organometallic chemistry. Born in April 1963 in Yucheng County, Henan Province. Graduated from the Department of Chemistry at Xiamen University in 1983, obtained a master’s degree from Nanjing University, Zhengzhou University, and the Henan Institute of Chemistry in 1989, and received a Ph.D. from the Institute of Molecular Science at the University of Tokyo in 1996. Elected an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2015. You Shuli: Organic chemist, mainly engaged in the research of new reactions and mechanisms in organic chemistry. Born in April 1975 in Luohe City, Henan Province. He obtained his bachelor’s degree from Nankai University in 1996, and his doctorate from the Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences, in 2001. In 2023, he was elected an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Zhang Suojiang: An expert in chemical engineering, mainly engaged in research on ionic liquids and green chemistry. Born in November 1964 in Linzhou City, Henan Province. Graduated from Henan University in 1986, obtained a master’s degree from Henan Normal University in 1989, and received a doctorate from Zhejiang University in 1994. Elected an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2015.
Zhou Xiang from Hubei Province: A chemical biologist who primarily engages in research on the chemical biology of nucleic acids. Born in Wuhan, Hubei Province, in May 1963. Graduated from Wuhan University in 1986, obtained a master’s degree from the same university in 1989, and received a doctorate from The Chinese University of Hong Kong in 1996. In 2021, he was elected an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Tang Benzhong: A polymer chemist who mainly focuses on the exploration of polymer synthesis methods, the development of advanced functional materials, and research on the aggregation-induced emission (AIE) phenomenon. Born in February 1957 in Qianjiang, Hubei. He graduated from the Department of Polymer Chemical Engineering at South China University of Technology in 1982. In 1985 and 1988, he obtained his master’s and doctoral degrees respectively from Kyoto University in Japan. In 2009, he was elected an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Zhao Yufen: Organic chemist, mainly engaged in research in the fields of bioorganic chemistry, organophosphorus chemistry, the origin of life, medicinal chemistry, and chemical biology. Born in Hankou, Hubei, in December 1948. Graduated from the Department of Chemistry at National Tsing Hua University in Hsinchu in 1971, and obtained a Ph.D. from Stony Brook State University in New York, USA in 1975. In 1991, he was elected as an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
Cao Yong from Hunan Province: A polymer chemist who mainly engages in research on conductive polymers. Born on October 14, 1941, in Changsha, Hunan. Graduated from the Department of Chemistry at Leningrad University in the Soviet Union in 1965. In 1987, he received a Ph.D. in Science from the University of Tokyo, Japan. Elected an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2001. Peng Huisheng: A polymer chemist who mainly focuses on research in polymer fiber devices. Born in Shaoyang County, Hunan Province, in July 1976. She obtained her bachelor’s degree in 1999 from China Textile University (now Donghua University), her master’s degree in 2003 from Fudan University, and her doctorate in 2006 from Tulane University in the United States. In 2023, he was elected an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Peng Xiaojun: An expert in fine chemicals, mainly engaged in the design of functional molecule structures and the research on clean manufacturing processes in this field. Born in Lixian, Hunan in October 1962. Graduated from Dalian University of Technology in 1982, obtained a master’s degree from the same university in 1986, and received a doctorate from there in 1990. Elected an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2017. Qing Fengling: Organic chemist, mainly engaged in fundamental research on organic fluorine chemistry and the development of high-performance organic fluorine materials. Born in March 1964 in Xinsao County, Hunan Province. She obtained a master’s degree from Southwest Normal University in 1988, and a doctor’s degree from the Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences, in 1990. In 2023, he was elected an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Tan Weihong: An analytical chemist and biochemist who has long been engaged in research and teaching in the fields of bioanalytical chemistry and biochemistry. Born in May 1960 in Yiyang City, Hunan Province. Graduated from Hunan Normal University in 1982, obtained a master’s degree from the Shanxi Coal Chemistry Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1985, and received a doctorate from the University of Michigan in the United States in 1993. Elected an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2015. Tang Zhiyong: Physical chemist, mainly engaged in research on nano-self-assembly. Born in March 1971 in Zhijiang County, Hunan Province. I obtained my bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Wuhan University in 1993 and 1996 respectively, and my doctorate from the Changchun Institute of Applied Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences, in 1999. In 2023, he was elected an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Zhou Qifeng: A polymer chemist who mainly focuses on research in the fields of polymer synthesis and liquid crystal polymers. Born on October 8, 1947, in Liuyang, Hunan. Graduated from the Department of Chemistry at Peking University in 1970, and obtained a Ph.D. in Polymer Science and Engineering from MIT in the United States in 1983. Elected an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1999.
