For acid-base desorption in an ion exchange resin tower at room temperature, is it better to use a rubber-lined or a plastic-lined structure? Can a sight glass be installed on it? Has anyone who has used it answered? Thank you!

The main advantage of rubber linings (usually made of rubber) is their good alkali and corrosion resistance, which allows them to perform well when handling acidic or alkaline solutions. Additionally, the rubber lining has good resistance to impact and mechanical damage. The main advantage of lining with plastics (usually PE, PP, PVC, etc.) is its good acid resistance, oxidation resistance, and aging resistance; however, its performance may decline in high-temperature environments. Generally speaking, plastic linings perform well with most organic solvents and oils. Regarding the issue of sight glasses, ion exchange resin towers usually have sight glasses installed to enable operators to conduct observations easily. However, the setup of the viewports must comply with relevant safety regulations, and the materials used must be able to withstand the chemicals and temperatures present in the operating environment. I’ve never used nor seen tanks with plastic linings; when plastic-lined pipes are used to transport dilute acids, bulging can occur inside them at higher temperatures.
