Chinese technology for producing clean gasoline from carbon dioxide arrives in North America 2025-03-10 On March 5, Zhuhai Fuhuan Energy Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Fuhuan Energy”) and Canadian Siyeye Indigenous Renewable Energy Incorporated (hereinafter referred to as “SIRE”) officially signed a cooperation agreement. The agreement provides for the establishment of a joint venture in Canada to promote Fuhuan Energy’s proprietary technology for producing gasoline from carbon dioxide via hydrogenation. Under the agreement, the joint venture plans to build a production facility with an annual output of 40,000 tons of hydrocarbon fuel, using locally available cheap natural gas as raw material. The facility will utilize the carbon dioxide hydrogenation to produce gasoline technology, which was developed over a period of five years by Fuhuan Energy in collaboration with the Institute of Catalysis of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. The procurement of the main technical processes, catalysts, and key equipment will be carried out domestically, which further demonstrates China’s technical expertise and manufacturing capabilities in the field of clean energy. Jim, the chairman of SIRE, revealed that the project has now entered the planning stage. Once the project is operational, the hydrogen-based fuel produced will be supplied primarily to the local market, helping to alleviate British Columbia’s long-term reliance on imported fuels and reducing dependence on traditional fossil fuels. Going forward, this technology will also leverage Canada’s abundant renewable energy resources to produce green hydrogen fuel, thereby continuing to drive the energy industry in a sustainable direction. Canadian indigenous companies enjoy preferential policies in terms of land and financing, providing a solid foundation for the smooth progress of projects. Currently, the project has received high recognition and strong support from the local provincial government, and it holds great potential to help Canada achieve its goals of energy transition and carbon neutrality.
