Under the action of bismuth phosphomolybdic or antimony-iron catalysts, an ammonia oxidation reaction takes place at temperatures of 450–500°C and pressures of 1.5–2.5 MPa (C₃H₆ + NH₃ + 3/2O₂ → C₃H₃N + 3H₂O); the heat generated by this reaction is used to produce high-pressure steam through the recycling of softened water； After being cooled in a quench tower, the reaction gas enters a water absorption tower to absorb acrylonitrile; residual ammonia is then removed in an ammonia neutralization tower. Finally, it is separated and purified through a distillation tower system to yield battery-grade acrylonitrile with a purity of ≥99.5%. Hydrogen cyanide and acetonitrile are produced as by-products, with an overall one-pass conversion rate for propylene exceeding 95% and an acrylonitrile yield of around 80%.
