I have a question regarding transition terminals

Hello, everyone who is into the sea! First of all, I wish all my fellow sailors a healthy body, success in their careers, and happiness for their families in the upcoming year of 2015. What is the main function of transition terminals in DCS systems? I checked the documentation for the control system and HaliTech’s DCS, and neither of them mentions anything about transition terminals! Thank you!
Due to the properties of the materials, connecting copper wires with aluminum wires easily results in the formation of an oxide layer that creates resistance; this leads to high temperatures which can cause the connection to burn out or result in a power outage. To avoid such problems that arise from manual connections, copper-aluminum transition terminals were developed. Is DCS used with aluminum wires? Anyway, our company isn’t that cost-conscious; we use all copper.
Nothing I have designed has ever used aluminum core wires.
