Should on-site instruments in foreign companies have color labels or metal plates?

I would like to ask whether, for industrial instruments in foreign companies such as those for measuring temperature and pressure, color-coded labels or name plates are used, and whether there is a record kept for each individual instrument or whether records are maintained collectively by category
I’ve never worked with foreign companies; usually, they use signboards, and the records are kept in a unified system. Every company is different; it depends only on the mindset of the top management
All I see are mounting brackets, which seem convenient for replacement.
In foreign companies, both tags and nameplates on the instrument itself are used, but careless handling by operators can result in the loss of the tags, whereas the nameplates last longer. To facilitate future work with the instruments, two sets of records will be kept: a unified record set and a separate record for each instrument.

I think the nameplates are quite sturdy; the ones used on site are very easy to lose. Of course, it varies from company to company
I have not worked for a foreign-owned company, but one of the companies I worked for followed the standards of its foreign counterpart, using both colored coating on equipment and metal nameplates.
