According to the standards, when measuring liquid pressure, it is required that the pressure tapping point be located in the lower half of the pipe cross-section. But in practice, why are the pressure gauges at the pump outlet of liquid pipes installed in the upper half of the pipe cross-section, with the pressure tapping points also in that upper half?
The pressure gauge at the pump outlet should be an on-site pressure gauge; such gauges are generally installed at the upper part for pressure measurement. The pressure gauge must be installed vertically; having the pressure sampling port in the lower half does not ensure vertical installation!
Field pressure gauges are generally used to measure the pressure in pipelines; sampling ports are usually installed at locations where pressure is not taken during normal operation. The liquid pressure you mentioned likely refers to the pressure in storage tank-type equipment, and in such cases a remote transducer is needed to measure the pressure, with sampling being done at the bottom of the tank
