A PT100 sensor is used to measure the bearing temperature. Recently, there have been frequent fluctuations in this temperature, which later return to normal stable levels; this indicates that the actual temperature of the bearing remains unchanged. Guys, let’s discuss and analyze the possible reasons!
We encountered fluctuations in the bearing shell temperature on our centrifuge units; it was later determined that this was caused by the resistor being near failure. At that time, the wiring boxes and the connections throughout the DCS system were inspected, and even resistance measurements were taken, but no problems were found.
It is estimated that there is a poor connection in the platinum thermistor; it is recommended to replace it and see.
Is the connection at the pin becoming unstable? Try another one to see.
It is usually caused by poor contact; you can check and tighten each connection point to see if that helps.
It’s best to try replacing it with a new one to see if there are still any fluctuations

The junction box and shielded wires have been checked and no problems were found. It’s foreign-made equipment; they think it might be a sensor issue, and we’re waiting for spare parts now.
