It is installed on pneumatic butterfly valves and functions similarly to a throttle valve; there are two air supply solenoid valves at its front end that can be used to control the degree of valve opening. Does anyone know what its technical name is?
This device roughly controls the valve position by manually adjusting the air intake on both sides of the cylinder; let’s call it a manual valve position controller. I just don’t understand why a valve positioner isn’t used Doesn’t the original poster have a controller that can output 4-20mA?
Yes! There is no 4-20mA input at the site, but a 4-20mA output is required. The manufacturer provided a limit switch with a 4-20mA output, two solenoid valves, and something else; this setup allows for a 4-20mA output while also enabling control of the valve position
