Hello everyone, I’m a newcomer to the workplace. I recently joined a manufacturer of electric heat tracing tapes and am responsible for marketing in the Chinese market. The company is South Korean; to avoid the appearance of advertising, its name will not be disclosed here. First, I gained a preliminary understanding of electric heating. The current situation of the company is as follows: unlike domestic manufacturers, the company I work for is a pure manufacturer. Its most competitive products at present are Self-Regulating electric heat tracing; other types of products are not really produced here. Then, it can be produced at all levels from T6 to T2; however, the price of T6 is not very competitive. But T2 to T5 all have good quality. It was focused on the Russian market until it reached the top 2 in sales in South Korea. In South Korea, the heat tracing systems are generally designed by specialized design companies, but they are not responsible for their production. So basically, it’s the engineering companies that get the orders and then come to us to place them. Or some power plants, pharmaceutical factories, and chemical enterprises purchase engineering consumables on a regular basis. My questions are as follows; I hope that the experts and seniors here will kindly offer their guidance. I am extremely grateful. 1. Are there any companies specialized in undertaking projects for domestic electric heat tracing systems? If there is any possibility, could you recommend a few companies? Thank you all. 2. Regarding electric heat tracing, what kind of enterprises use it? For example, in the petrochemical industry, which types of subsidiaries purchase electric heat tracing systems? Is it possible for companies to purchase them solely for installation purposes? If there are such companies, I hope you can recommend them. 3. For us, who are pure manufacturing companies, when operating in the domestic market, is it better to go with OEM or to work with an engineering company? I hope you can offer some guidance. My WeChat ID is dck2000. If there are any experts or seniors who can provide in-depth advice, they could send me red envelopes; if there are any agents as well, feel free to contact me. You’re welcome at any time; thank you all here
As I understand it, the original poster already knows how to do it – namely, the agents, engineering companies, and the end customers (the petrochemical industry is obviously a major customer). As for resources (the most valuable thing in this world, I guess), no one can provide them to you
I mean, engineering companies, or design firms, or agents that it might be possible to purchase from. Just tell me the name. You don’t need to tell me everyone’s names and contact information. I’m just trying to find out what kind of companies users usually work for
The design institute can be looked into. You can also get in touch with those that offer integrated equipment sets, as well as those that produce analysis kiosks, such as Siemens and similar companies; however, they usually have their own regular partners
All construction companies that undertake EPC projects purchase and install everything on their own
Our petrochemical companies have established frameworks; we are required to submit plans, and the procurement department then looks for products within those frameworks to conduct bidding. For new projects, it is usually the design department that is responsible for planning and helping to find manufacturers. They’re all well-prepared, and there are always a few that are easy to use. If it goes well, there will be a second time.
The petrochemical industry requires a fair amount of electric heat tracing, and we here carry out many installations of such systems.
You’re absolutely right; the problem is that we have been focusing on OEM manufacturing up to now. Then, new models of high-temperature cable products were developed. So I plan to develop the market using my own brand as well. But as you know in the domestic market, it’s best to have a local agent who is familiar with the area and knowledgeable about technology as well as installation work. We ensure good quality at competitive prices. I want to do it this way. But now I want to develop agents, yet I don’t know where to start, as most of the existing agents already have their own brands. I’m still thinking about how to overcome this problem. It’s a bit tricky
May I ask, do you work in a factory or are you involved in a related industry? I hope we can have the opportunity to exchange ideas
I said those words in a bit of a reversed order back then. In fact, the quality of our products is quite good, and their prices are also very competitive among imported products. Pretty impressive. But what we lack are domestic resources, yet we haven’t said that we want to be greedy and handle everything on our own. I just want to develop a few reliable agents to handle construction cooperation on my behalf. Develop the domestic market. So it could be considered a win-win partnership. What troubles me now is figuring out how to find these agents, especially regional agents; there are many in Shanghai and Beijing, but all of those positions are already occupied. It will take time to persuade them.
