A liquid turbine flow meter features low pressure loss, a wide measurement range, and high accuracy; when measuring the volumetric flow rate under operating conditions, it is hardly affected by parameters such as fluid density, pressure, temperature, and viscosity. It has been widely applied in various industries. Next, let’s discuss the considerations for selecting, installing, and preparing a liquid turbine flow meter before use: Since it contains a rotating impeller, in order to ensure its service life, it is necessary that the fluid being measured be free of impurities; if needed, a filter can be installed before the straight section of pipe adjacent to the flow meter. When determining the installation location, the flow meter should be placed in a location that facilitates maintenance and is free from strong electromagnetic interference and heat radiation. There should also be a sufficient straight section of pipe before and after the flow meter, following the “10 before and 5 after” principle. When installing the flow meter, the gaskets between the flanges must not bulge into the pipe, the axis of the flow meter must be aligned with the axis of the pipe, and the flow direction must be consistent. Regarding the external environment, it is best to install the turbine flow meter indoors; if installation outdoors is necessary, measures such as protection against sunlight, rain, and lightning must be taken to prevent issues with its operation. During wiring, the flow meter must be reliably grounded and must not share the ground wire with high-voltage systems. Within the specified flow range, over-speed operation should be prevented to ensure ideal accuracy and a normal service life. Before installing the flow meter, it is necessary to clean the pipes of any debris such as fragments, welding slag, stones, dust, etc. It is recommended to install a filter with 5-micron pore size upstream to prevent liquid droplets and sand particles from entering. When putting the flow meter into operation, the front valve should be opened slowly first, followed by the rear valve, to prevent damage to the turbine caused by sudden airflow shock. Lubricant should be added according to the instructions on the sign, and the frequency of refilling depends on the cleanliness of the gas. The turbine may run at excessive speed due to pressure testing, pipeline purging, or venting, and the turbine running in reverse flow can also damage the flow meter; when performing such operations, the flow meter can be replaced by a short pipe instead of being removed. It is not allowed to open the front and rear covers or modify the internal parameters while the flow meter is in operation, as this will affect its proper functioning. Flow metering is one of the components of measurement science and technology, and it is closely related to the national economy, national defense construction, and scientific research. Doing this job well plays an important role in ensuring product quality, improving production efficiency, and promoting the development of science and technology.
