I believe that glass plate level gauges are safer than glass tube ones
Either is fine; provided there are no safety risks, I would choose a glass tube level gauge, as it is inexpensive and easy to maintain.
Glass plate level gauges, due to differences in their structural composition, consist of a glass tube along with related components; once this tube breaks, it is necessary to replace the entire tube, which requires re-purchasing it or even replacing the whole level gauge. Glass plate level gauges, on the other hand, are made up of multiple small glass plates along with related components, and when one of these plates breaks, it is sufficient to replace just that broken plate promptly (by having spare parts ready), resulting in less impact on production.

It depends on the application scenario; for high temperature and pressure conditions, glass plates are more reliable. At normal temperature and pressure, glass tubes are more cost-effective.
