The LR250 model of radar level gauge – Fault description: The values displayed on the central DCS system do not match those shown on the panel of the radar level gauge. 1. The current value displayed on the panel of the radar level gauge does not match the current value measured using a multimeter on the same radar level gauge. For example: if the radar level gauge panel shows 8 meters and the range is 16 meters, the calculated output current value is 12 mA. However, a multimeter showed an output of 14.2mA. 2. The values displayed on the central control DCS correspond to the same liquid level as the current value of the radar level gauge (as measured by a multimeter). 3. Disconnect the signal wire of the radar level gauge. By using an external 24V power supply to supply power and measuring the current directly, the result is the same as in case 1. Rule out ground issues or interference with the signal lines. 4. Check the internal parameter settings of the radar level gauge, such as the high calibration point, low calibration point, the level options in the analog output settings, as well as the options for the value corresponding to 4mA and the value corresponding to 20mA; ensure that all parameter settings are correct. Check the grounding, as well as any other sources of interference; problems with the card’s output or the wiring can also affect the output. It is possible to use a 24V power supply for powering the device while conducting measurements
Generally, radar level gauges have a 4mA setting and a 20mA setting. The reading provided by the radar level gauge is given as L = tank height H – distance D; in your case, it’s most likely related to these settings
Thank you. This has been checked before; the corresponding values for 4mA and 20mA remain constant depending on the DCS range settings. It is now suspected that the issue lies with the signal conversion circuit, but nothing has been determined yet.
