I would like to ask everyone how to determine the thermometer sleeve. The thermometer uses a conical protective sleeve; it can measure temperatures around 270 degrees and pressures of 7 MPa. It is connected via flanges. So how do I determine the outer diameter of this protective sleeve? The diameter of the hole for inserting the thermometer is 17 mm. I mainly want to know what thickness the wall should have in order to withstand pressure. Is there any national standard or calculation formula for this? Thank you.
Parameters can be submitted for the thermometer manufacturer to choose from. It is recommended to change the thermometer hole to 7 or 9 mm and use welding. The flange method is expensive, wastes materials, and creates additional leakage points; a corresponding armored thermometer should be used. Your level of temperature and pressure is nothing; what really requires attention are requirements such as resistance to erosion and corrosion.

The aperture of the thermometer core need not be specified; only the diameter of the inner core is required, for example: 6mm ; 8mm。 Since it is a flange connection, the specifications of the flange should be specified, such as: DN40?DN50? Once the size of the flange is determined, the manufacturer will calculate the outer diameter of the protective tube based on that flange size, while the wall thickness will be determined by the manufacturer considering the design pressure under operating conditions. Therefore, simply provide the detailed process parameters, and the manufacturer’s professional technical staff will carry out the calculations for selection. The manufacturer can also provide matching flanges. For thermometers installed on pipelines, the flow rate of the medium also needs to be taken into account, and more detailed process parameters such as density and viscosity are required.
Whether a protective sleeve is needed depends on the requirements of the on-site process – who can guarantee that the thermometer will not malfunction?
