Are there any specific requirements regarding the grounding of the neutral wire for the power supplies in DCS and SIS systems? Are there any standards or relevant documentation provided by manufacturers?
When asked the manufacturers, they all said a neutral wire grounding is required, but upon checking regulatory documents, it was stated that no such requirement exists.
I also want to know; can anyone answer it?
This post was last edited by myface on 2018-5-2 at 16:43. The neutral wire of the power supply is grounded at the transformer end, and there’s nothing wrong with that. If the power comes from a UPS, then the neutral wire there should also be grounded at the UPS. It’s different if IT power supply is used.

It should be determined based on whether the system’s power supply is designed according to the TN system or the IT system – that’s what determines whether grounding is necessary. However, the criteria for such design fall within the scope of electrical engineering, so I’m not entirely clear about this at the moment; I need to study it further.
Mainly, are there any requirements regarding which system should supply power to the control system? Will floating have an impact on the system? A few power cards have burned out here, I want to check them.
South Korea uses IT systems, and they still work fine, so that shouldn’t be the issue. Check to see if there’s any voltage short circuit or if there’s any induced voltage
Check the requirements of the system manufacturer – does it require a floating ground or a common ground?
Our 220V power supplies aren’t grounded; I guess you’re referring to the grounding of the power module
