Does SIL certification cover only the electronic components, or does it include the mechanical parts as well? For example, when it comes to the certification of control valves, does it cover only solenoid valves or also the actuators?
Non-electric valves and actuators must have SIL certification! The purpose is to determine the failure rate of the complete safety instrument function.
