An FPC connector is a flexible printed circuit board made from polyimide or polyester film as its substrate; it is a printed circuit board with high reliability and excellent flexibility, commonly referred to as a flexible board or FPC. An FFC connector, or flexible flat cable connector, is a new type of data cable made by using PET insulation material and extremely thin tinned flat copper wires, which are pressed together through high-tech automated production lines. It features flexibility, the ability to bend and fold easily, low thickness, small size, simple connection, easy disassembly, and effective electromagnetic shielding. In the field of connectors, FFC connectors and FPC connectors are often confused. Although both are flexible cable connectors, there are still certain differences between FFC connectors and FPC connectors. An FFC connector is a connector for flexible flat cables; FPC refers to flexible printed circuits. In terms of manufacturing, the way their circuits are formed is different. FPC is a flexible circuit board with single-sided, double-sided, and multi-layer structures, obtained by chemically etching FCCL (flexible copper-clad laminate) to create different circuit patterns. FFC consists of two layers of insulating foil with flat copper foil in between; it is a simpler design and has a greater thickness. Strictly speaking, natural FFC is much cheaper; considering production costs, more companies prefer to use FFC-based designs. Same side/different sides: The FFC is placed flat; the copper wires that can make contact with the FPC are on the same surface if they are on the identical side, which is considered the same side ; Conversely, it refers to a reinforced plate for mismatched applications: a board whose interfaces need further reinforcement in order to protect the flexible copper wires from being damaged during insertion into the FPC and to prevent them from breaking during insertion and removal.
