As the title suggests, can an explosion-proof distribution box be placed on top of a fuel oil storage tank? The distribution box is a low-voltage power distribution box used for radar level gauges and temperature sensors. Are there any standards that specify relevant requirements or regulations? Does any expert know? Please let me know! ! ! !
This installation method seems a bit inappropriate, doesn’t it? It is advisable to install the distribution box on the ground of the tank area and connect it to the top of the tanks using reliable cables.
Flameproof distribution boxes are generally available; ExdIIBT6/ExdIICT6 types can only be used in Zones 1 and 2. Generally, oil storage tanks are equipped with vents at the top, and leaks can occur frequently; therefore they are classified as Zone 0, where only intrinsically safe equipment may be used
