The tank temperature signal is fed into the radar level gauge; the bus communication connects it to the Rosemount radar level gauge’s processing unit, the FCU. From there, data is transmitted via 485 communication to the DCS. What causes fluctuations in the minimum and maximum temperature values, and how can this be resolved?
The same problem persists; the approach of connecting the bus bars in the intermediate junction box using resistors doesn’t work. Now we’re trying by disconnecting the surge connections on site for testing. It seems that no one with expertise would offer any suggestions on this matter – there aren’t even any comments on the post from 2015
Measure the resistance value of the temperature sensor directly at the top of the tank; disconnect the wiring and take measurements to see if the sensor itself changes state. If the sensor also changes state, then it’s broken. If the sensor does not toggle, check sequentially further, and take that extension cable with you to measure and observe again. Check the wiring again to see if there are any loose connections that need to be fixed; also check whether the wiring box has been exposed to water. If there is severe rust, address that as well

Logically, if it’s an average temperature sensor that takes readings from multiple points, a problem with just one point shouldn’t cause such a significant issue, right?
