Are steam traps and desiccants the same thing? Could you explain their principles and functions?
A steam trap is a type of valve, also known as a desuperheater. Its main function is to prevent steam from entering while allowing water to drain, and the principle behind this is generally the use of the pressure of the liquid column of condensed water.
\"Thermostat\" was the old name for it; after the 1970s, thermostats were classified as part of the valve category, and since then their name has been \"throttle valve\". For *conventional reasons, some people still call it a water strainer to this day. Their function is to expel condensate water, air, and carbon dioxide gas from the steam system as quickly as possible, while automatically preventing steam leakage to the greatest extent possible. The principle relies on the density difference between condensed water and steam; by adjusting the level of the condensed water, it is possible to prevent steam from passing through while allowing water to be drained!

Traps also include automatic traps, which are more than just steam traps. .
Personally, I think they are two different names resulting from distinct structures: one is of a valve-like type with internal moving components, and the other has a fixed structure
