When we helped our clients bid on projects, we visited a pharmaceutical factory; after putting on sterile suits, there were two airlocks used to blow away dust and debris through pressure differences. Therefore, two differential pressure gauges were needed in that area. Additionally, according to production requirements, one temperature and humidity gauge is required for every 10 square meters or for each unit. Even if the machinery in the mixing room has a timer, it is still necessary to wear a watch; in laboratories and darkrooms, if a high level of sophistication is desired, ship’s clocks may be used (of course, I’m not sure whether this is compliant with regulations). Mass scales and density scales are standard equipment; in addition, there are flame detectors. I’m not sure whether they are required in every facility, or if it’s because this factory uses LNG pipelines. Finally, there are weight scales at the entrance and exit; this is probably to prevent anyone from taking the raw materials away, as weight measurements are kept track of for both entries and exits.

Pharmaceutical companies have a large number of storage tanks for raw materials, which require level gauges; reaction vessels need on-site thermometers and pressure gauges. There are also flow meters for measuring the flow of materials, steam, and wastewater.

Pressure, level, weighing, and temperature are the four common types of instruments; depending on the equipment they are used in, sanitary versions are generally chosen, as well as those that are easy to disassemble and clean. Some other reaction vessels are double-layered, and the installation considerations must be taken into account when selecting instruments.
