What size air supply pipe should be used for 8\" and 10\" pneumatic gate valves? Is 1/4" okay?
It is designed based on the amount of gas used by the valve and the pressure requirements. There’s also the diameter of the air supply interface for the directional control valve,,,,. The key here lies in the control valve interface that controls this valve actuator. Using this excuse as a reference, it cannot be smaller than the inner diameter of this interface.
We haven’t used thicker pipes either; DN15 instrument air is perfectly fine. Stainless steel pipes with an outer diameter of 6 or 8 are used later.

It can be determined based on the air supply interface on the valve, and then the air supply tube should be selected according to the pressure resistance level.
This needs to be calculated based on the pressure difference to determine the required torque. For your reference: CL150, pressure difference of 0.3 MPa, DN200 and DN250; all are equipped with 1/2\" NPT-φ12 connections.
The diameter of the pipe determines the time it takes for pressure to fill the actuator; it’s not a matter of pressure but rather of flow rate. This, in turn, determines the time it takes for the valve to open or close. Nothing else is a major issue
According to the valve port size you mentioned, a 1/4” air supply pipe is perfectly fine. However, when considering this product, it’s not enough to only look at the valve port diameter; you also need to take into account the length of the gas supply pipe, the number of bends, as well as the type of actuator you choose. But I usually use 1/2" piping up to near the valve and then switch to 1/4" to connect to the cylinder.
