The control valve is a pneumatic diaphragm control valve; what type should be used for the flow meter that follows it? The medium is chloroform and water, the temperature ranges from 0 to 60 degrees Celsius, and the flow rate is 10 cubic meters per hour. Please provide suggestions! Help consider the cost-effectiveness and practicality.
This post was last edited by leit on 2018-12-17 09:11. Control valves and flow meters are not necessarily related to each other, and flow meters are generally installed in front of the valve. For simple control alone, an orifice plate is sufficient!
Depending on your pipe diameter, you can use differential pressure types or turbines; it seems that chloroform is non-conductive
Orifice plates and vortex flowmeters offer a good balance of cost-effectiveness and practicality. If the flow rate is stable, the rotor can also be selected; the flow meter must be installed in front of the valve to ensure a full pipe
An electromagnetic flowmeter is a good choice provided the medium is moist and its conductivity meets the requirements; if this cannot be confirmed, an vortex flowmeter is also a good option.
If price is not a concern, then use a mass flow meter. The accuracy is quite high.
For economy and practicality, when using an ellipse in winter, attention should be paid to insulation to prevent freezing
For chloroform aqueous solutions at temperatures between 21°C and 95°C, SS and C22 materials cannot be used; corrosion protection must be taken into account in such conditions. Choosing a float flow meter with a PTFE-lined metal tube is cheaper. The others either don’t meet the required material standards, or those that do meet them are quite expensive. Or choose an external clamping ultrasonic flow meter. Or consider corrosion-resistant TZ, TA, and TI materials.
1. Chloroform is essentially trichloromethane; if not properly sealed, it will oxidize in contact with air to produce highly toxic phosgene. It is therefore necessary to minimize the frequency of maintenance work on flow meters, so flow meters that are prone to failure should be avoided.
