Our plant is a methanol-to-olefins facility, and the flow meter at the three-stage outlet of the compressor used to compress the olefins separation product gas is a venturi flow meter. Fluctuations have occurred in recent times, which has led to the opening of the anti-surge valves. Although these valves have opened to a limited extent in recent instances and no disruption to production has resulted, if the cause of these fluctuations is not identified promptly, it will eventually cause significant problems. So far, no cause has been found from either process or instrumentation perspectives. Could everyone please help analyze what factors can cause fluctuations in the readings of a venturi flow meter?
All pipe fittings, as well as conduit valves and sealing points, should be cleaned and re-sealed.
Start by checking from the pressure-relief tube of the venturi flow meter, and proceed step by step all the way to the differential pressure transmitter

If the cause cannot be identified, investigate it gradually. To conduct an analysis and make a judgment, please first provide the recording graphs showing the duration in minutes or seconds; it is necessary to be able to see the changes in the signal per second. In modern medicine, do doctors diagnose diseases by looking at images and lab test results? Wandering thoughts and wild guesses – what’s the use of that? . . A miracle doctor is complete nonsense.
