Why won’t my ICP ignite today? I’d appreciate some advice.
It might be that the air inside the torch tube wasn’t completely blown out, or the combustion chamber is too humid. Blow on the torch tube with a hair dryer before ignition, and then blow cool air at it manually for a while; this should help improve the situation. Also, the torch tube must be clean; it won’t work if it’s dirty. To establish a stable ICP, the following three conditions must be met: (1) The RF system must output a continuously stable and appropriate amount of energy to the working coil. (2) A proper torch tube has been installed, and pure argon gas with an appropriate flow rate is supplied. (3) The ignition device releases an appropriate charge into the gas. If ignition is not successful, it means that one or more of the conditions have not been met.
Generally, advanced devices like ICP come equipped with a fault output. Send the error code to the manufacturer, and they will tell you what exactly the problem is. Guessing blindly is very difficult.
