Regarding the grounding of armored shielded cables

Previously, ordinary shielded wires were used for grounding the control room. I’ve checked the grounding requirements for armored shielded cables now; the internal shielding is the same as that in regular cables, but the armored layer requires grounding at both ends. Won’t this result in a potential difference in the armor layer? Are there any special requirements for the docking location? For example, does one have to use equipotential grounding or something like that? What is the purpose of grounding both ends? What is the fundamental difference from grounding one end?
I encountered it once; I ignored the armor layer because I bought the wrong cable. Is the armoring a design requirement? Armored cables are buried directly in the ground; they need to have certain tensile and shear strength, as well as protection against rodents
