Electrical and electronic components shall not be older than 15 years. If the degradation starts to increase after 10 years, it should be replaced.

Original poster, my company’s plant came to a stop due to a failure in a relay within the SIS system at the end of last month; the system had been in use for less than 5 years, and as of now there is no decision yet regarding when it should be replaced.
