How does DCS achieve automatic control of flow rate using control valves?
First, you need to decide whether it is the DCS that will control the flow rate of the control valve, or whether the control valve itself will handle that control. There are electric control valves with variable-frequency drives, which allow the flow rate to be adjusted as needed; however, their price is higher than that of intelligent types.
Flow meters and control valves are installed on-site, with the flow meter located behind and the control valve in front; the flow rate is sent to the DCS, where PID control is configured to send signals to the control valve, thereby adjusting the flow rate by changing the degree of opening of the control valve.
