Can a radio frequency admittance switch be used to determine whether there is material in a pipeline?
Yes, a tuning fork switch can also be used; it provides similar functionality – the signal is ON when there is material in the pipe and OFF when there is no material. It is recommended to install it on vertical pipes, as horizontal pipes will remain ON if material accumulates in them.
RF admittance switches are primarily used to measure the material level. A radio frequency admittance switch measures and controls the liquid level by using a probe to detect changes in the reactance (capacitive reactance and impedance) between it and the tank
