Instrument measurement of medium emission issues

Dear experts, I would like to ask about the issue of instrument medium emissions. Yesterday, there was an environmental incident related to instrument emissions; the instrument maintenance staff in my workshop received a call from the process department requesting that a float level gauge be inspected. Upon arrival at the site, the maintenance personnel closed the pressure-taking valve and opened the float drain valve to discharge waste fluid. The strong odor resulting from this large volume of waste fluid spread to another company located outside the company’s perimeter, leading to complaints from that company. In the field of instrument maintenance, sewage and condensate removal is one of the most common tasks carried out. Do anyone have any good ways to prevent the release of toxic substances with strong odors into the atmosphere?
Toxic/flammable/malodorous media should be discharged in a sealed manner, and similar to process wastewater, they should be returned to the plant’s collection system. Especially those instruments with large storage capacities, such as float/magnetic flap gauges. . . It should be required from the design stage. It’s now in operation; we can only wait for an opportunity to address the potential issues.
