Hello everyone. The laboratory currently has a continuous solution polymerization system, and it is necessary to equip the reaction vessel with a level gauge to continuously measure the liquid level. This data is then sent to the DCS system, which is used in conjunction with the pump controlling the discharge from the vessel in order to maintain a stable liquid level. The reaction vessel is quite small, with a capacity of only 2 liters; therefore, its total height is just over twenty centimeters. The liquid level in the vessel ranges from 40% to 80%. The presence of a stirrer in the vessel affects the liquid level, and the viscosity of the liquid is approximately 100 centipoise. I would like to ask everyone which type of level gauge would be most suitable in this situation
It is recommended to use a weighing module; no requirements are imposed on the materials or the conditions inside the tank. Just make proper flexible connections during installation; the equipment in the laboratory is relatively small, and it is likely that a platform scale will be sufficient to solve the issue. After all, the reaction vessel is relatively small, which does not affect the convenience of installation, nor is it influenced by the properties of the materials. The only drawback is that the stirring motion, whether it is rotating or not, does have some impact on the weight

You might try a radar level gauge operating at 80GHz; there are many manufacturers that offer devices using this frequency
With such a small container that also has a stirrer, I suggest you opt for a weight sensor. If the shape of your container is relatively regular, you can convert the weight into a liquid level measurement; however, if the shape is irregular, it becomes more complicated. If there’s enough space, you could also use guided wave radar. I’m not sure how much the liquid level fluctuates when the stirrer is in use – if the fluctuations are significant, then that method won’t work either.
I would recommend using a weighing module; radar will definitely have an impact on measuring liquid level in devices with agitators, unless there is a guided wave tube, in which case it would be better
