Hello everyone. My company has recently purchased a CUSTOM fluorescence sensor for analyzing the oil content in water at the PPM level. This is my first time using such a device, and there are many things I don’t understand. You should read the operation manual carefully and consult the instrument manufacturer regarding these adjustments. Because only the manufacturer knows the specific instruments best. Another point to evaluate regarding this analyzer is that, for analyzing oil content in water, the user has to adjust four parameters (range, data integration period, signal gain, and reference gain). This indicates that the manufacturer hasn’t conducted in-depth research on the application of this analyzer; in other words, its principles and applications were adapted from other existing technologies. Creating such a complicated adjustment interface is just a gimmick; it’s likely to be expensive, as parameter adjustments also require connection to a PC via data communication. It may appear high-end and impressive, but in reality it represents a very flawed design for an analyzer. A problem that could be solved simply by reading fluorescence spectra forces the operator to figure things out and make adjustments on their own. It is estimated that this instrument manufacturing factory simply does not possess the capability or expertise to develop technologies for oil measurement in water. This instrument must cost a lot of money, right? Over 150,000, maybe?

This watch was purchased directly from the manufacturer in the United States; no agent has been found in China for now. As for the operation manual, it has only 29 pages, which have all been translated into Chinese. Upon careful reading, it doesn’t provide detailed information; it merely states that adjusting this parameter will increase or decrease the output of the measurement light or the reference light. What we don’t understand is under what circumstances it is necessary to increase it and under what circumstances to decrease it; the instructions do not provide detailed explanations on this.
Made in the United States; there is no official distributor in the country yet. The operation manual has only 29 pages – after deducting the cover, back cover, table of contents, and manufacturer’s contact information, there are barely 20 pages left. The sections on principles and applications, used for exaggeration, take up 3 pages, while spare parts are covered in 1 page. So how much actual useful information is left? When buying an analyzer, it’s best to choose products from established manufacturers. As for these products with no brand, no quality guarantees, and no manufacturer information, it’s not even clear whether they will deceive users or not; moreover, operators have nowhere to turn for help if problems arise – and that’s truly tragic. Ask the purchasing department for technical support and the contact information of sales agents.

This company can be found through searches, but I think its actual technical capabilities may not be as strong as what is advertised. In my judgment, it is a company that has adopted technology or products from elsewhere.
It shouldn’t be difficult to achieve adaptability through such adjustments. The product is operated manually; perhaps the PC software was developed by a third party. Adjusting the light output and gain is intended to improve the signal-to-noise ratio, which is related to the medium being tested. In a turbid medium, a stronger light source is required; the higher the gain, the better.
