PROFIBUS literally means field bus; what types of signals are it used to transmit, and can it be used in SIS systems? As far as I know, the signals entering the SIS are generally connected via hard wires
With Siemens’ FH, Profibus DP is used
No, according to 50770, fieldbuses or other communication methods cannot be used as input signals for safety instruments
If it’s Siemens’ SIS, then DP communication can certainly be used; but for devices from different manufacturers, it is likely necessary to use hardwired connections, as communication via other methods is not supported
