I’m not sure what this solid is like. I have successful experience using vortex flowmeters to measure slurries containing solids in PTA plants; over a period of almost a year, the measurement results were quite consistent with those obtained using electromagnetic flowmeters on the same pipelines, which was beyond my expectations as well as those of the users
Choose a venturi or a nozzle? It’s possible, but since there are solids present, an isolation fluid needs to be added… Ultrasound? It should be impossible to measure when solids are present… It’s not that using a vortex street sensor is unacceptable, but garbage-induced vortex streets make measurement even more difficult. What is the pipe diameter? What medium? Are there any requirements regarding pressure loss? With these available, I can give you some suggestions.

The design aims to create a funnel effect in the flow field to prevent blockages, and as long as the medium has a stable density and viscosity, there are no major issues with measurements.
Either wedge or venturi flowmeters can be used; the pressure tap should be positioned upward, a diaphragm-type transmitter should be employed, and a flushing ring should be included along with flushing water.
