Selection of the root valve for balance flow meters

Operating conditions: Medium is hydraulic oil return fluid (not heavy oil); operating temperature is at room temperature; operating pressure is 14 MPa. I am now using a balanced flow meter together with a root valve, a three-valve assembly, and a differential pressure transmitter to measure the flow rate of the return oil. Given that it is quite difficult to operate stop valves at such high pressures, the root valve is used only for full opening and closing operations and is not operated frequently; I have chosen a gate valve for this purpose, but I’m not 100% sure if that’s the right choice. Am I doing it correctly?
Plug-and-weld gate valves of PN100 and above are the standard choice.
With a needle valve, it’s no trouble even at 100 MPa; 14 MPa is nothing at all
