For field instruments connected to the system via safety barriers, if the wires are disconnected on-site, is there no need to worry about the wires hitting walls and causing arcing, or about positive and negative wires coming into contact with each other? Then can I remove the stitches on site without wrapping them with insulating tape?
Yes, it’s okay not to wrap it. But this is not a good habit; it is recommended to wrap each wire separately, no matter what it is.
Even with an intrinsically safe circuit, you still need to follow the correct procedures when operating it. Prevent abnormal conditions from occurring in the circuit.
With a safety barrier, the chance of it burning out is low. But once the stitches are removed, it’s important to develop the habit of wrapping it up, whether it’s powered on or not.
Is it really that difficult to just follow the rules honestly?
