One Rosemount insert-type differential pressure level gauge in our plant is giving inaccurate readings. We initially suspect that the upper flange is blocked, but since it is an insert-type gauge, it cannot be disassembled and cleaned online; therefore, we have to stop production, remove the liquid from the system, and then carry out repairs. However, it would be too costly to stop production just because of a malfunctioning gauge. Are there any methods, guided by experienced experts, to perform disassembly and inspection without stopping the vehicle? Note: The medium contains cyanide and is highly dangerous; it cannot be disassembled for inspection without returning it
In this case, one can try raising and lowering the liquid level in the storage tank, repeating this process several times to see if it is possible to dissolve the material that is causing the blockage. If this works, that’s great; otherwise, the plant will have to be shut down for inspection and repair

For level gauges used to monitor such hazardous media, it is best to install two of them, using different types such as differential pressure type, guided wave radar type, or ultrasonic external type. Vinyl chloride spherical tanks (major hazard sources) generally have 3 units. If your tank has an additional pipe outlet with a valve, you might consider installing another one, so that you can repair the clogged section when the machine is stopped.
