I have a question for everyone. Where does the thermocouple compensation wire start, and where does it end? For example, field thermocouple ----> junction box ----> control room terminal blocks ----> safety barrier ----> input card. Should the compensation wires then be laid from the thermocouple’s terminal blocks to the junction box, and finally to the input terminals of the safety barrier? Thank you all
Theoretically, as long as it is an mV signal line of a thermocouple, compensation is required for accuracy.
The length of the compensation wire is, in theory, used to extend the cold end of the thermocouple to a location where the temperature is stable. If the temperature at the field terminal box remains stable, the compensation wire is connected from the thermocouple terminal to the field terminal box.
Remember, it’s sufficient if a compensation wire is connected between the wiring point of the thermocouple element and the input terminal of the input card.

Does that mean that one of the three wires in a thermistor, or one of the two wires in a thermocouple, must be a compensation wire?
How do you always teach your child? Does a thermal resistor require a compensation wire?
